After over a decade of standing on the top step of amateur and professional podiums worldwide across various disciplines of off road motorcycle competition, Gaerne's top-shelf SG-12 has been reimagined, refined and rebooted as the latest iteration of the Gaerne lineup: The highly anticipated SG-22. Beyond the sharp lines and updated styling lies a tremendous amount of research and development that took a boot many considered perfect, and improved upon it in every aspect possible. This elite-performance boot takes Italian craftsmanship and combines it with cutting-edge materials and technical solutions to provide the most advanced boot available.
Starting with the 3D Main Body Toe Box, Gaerne was able to lower the overall height of the toebox and increase flexibility, which translates to quicker and easier shifting. The Aluminum Superlight Buckles feature a new finish, and the top buckle is adjustable to three separate positions outside of the standard strap adjustment, along with two different positions for the frontal shin plate allowing for an even wider range of adjustability for individual calf sizes and for more comfortable knee brace fitment. Ventilation is another area where the SG22 shines, using two large vents on the front shin plate combined with 3D channels developed to circulate air through the boot to evacuate humidity and dissipate heat.
Another key improvement made to the SG-22 is in the ergonomics department. Gaerne redesigned the geometry of the ankle hinge to more closely mimic the natural movement of the ankle without making any sacrifices to safety. The new rear Razorback reduces weight, and when coupled with the Gaerne Dual Stage Pivot System, protects the ankle with two limit switches that prohibit the hyperextension, hyperflexion and lateral movements that cause injuries.
Internally, the memory foam interior has been re-engineered to take shape of the entire ankle and stabilize the foot. The inner leg area that contacts the bike features Grip Guard rubber with a compound developed to improve protection and increase friction for better rider feel. The sole incorporates dual-density inserts that provide grip and durability on the footpeg, without losing traction and cushion while off the bike. The Microshock heel uses multiple densities to decrease the amount of force transferred to the ankle and heel when cornering. Using the unrivaled Goodyear Welted construction, you'll be stepping into a boot that you can depend on for years, and when the sole wears out it can be replaced by a professional repair shop. Rounded off with an improved steel toe cap that reduces the overall toe height, you'll feel right at home whether this is your first pair of Gaerne boots or your tenth.
